वह ना आए तो हवा भी नहीं आया करती

Transliteration:
Woh na aaye toh hawa bhi nahi aaya karti,
Uski khushboo bhi akele nahi aaya karti.
Hum toh aansu hain, hamein khaak mein mil jaana hai,
Mayyaton ke liye doli nahi aaya karti.
Meaning in English:
If they don’t come, even the wind doesn’t blow,
Their fragrance doesn’t come alone (it only comes with them).
We are just tears, destined to mix with the dust (die),
Palanquins (used in weddings) don’t come for funerals (implying they are for the living/celebrations, not our departure from life).
